Story of the konoba

Promoting traditional national heritage values through the story of his own family konoba.

“Story of the konoba” is a name of the project established by family member Miki Bratanić, which promote traditional national heritage values through the story of his own family konoba.

His story telling activities motivated Ministry of culture to proclaim his family konoba collection as “Protected cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia”.

He attend at many cultural events in Croatia and abroad presenting this unique story.

As a member of Croatian Writers Association he published four books about konoba: “KONOBA”, “STORY OF THE KONOBA”, “STORY OF THE KONOBA FOR KIDS”, and “STORY OF THE KONOBA FOR ADULTS”.

The International Association of Tourism Journalists awarded him the Marco Polo Medal for promoting travel and tourism based on his authentic heritage story.

Along with family members and partners he is organizing different kind of events in his konoba.

Parts of the story

Story of the wine production on island Hvar from Greek time till today in UNESCO protected Stari Grad plain and role of the konoba in the life of islanders.  

There are 86 artifacts in konoba Bratanic which belong to protected cultural heritage. Each peace have its own story and role in process of wine creation and aging.
